Grills
Grill Cleaning Service in San Diego
This page is for a professional grill cleaning on its own — a freestanding BBQ or the grill in a built-in island. Carbonised grease on the grates and in the firebox is what causes flare-ups and uneven heat, and it rarely comes out with a brush.
There are two levels of grill care. Light recurring care keeps the grates and exterior in order between cooks. A deep clean goes further: depending on the grill and the scope we agree, grates, heat tents, accessible interior surfaces, the drip tray, the hood, knobs, handles and the exterior are all cleaned.
Want the counters, cabinets and backsplash around the grill cleaned as well? See outdoor kitchen cleaning in San Diego.

Our process
How the work is done
01
Bake off buildup
Where appropriate for the grill and its condition, heat is used first to loosen carbonised residue before the unit is shut down.
02
Shut down and cool
The grill is turned off and cleaning begins only after the unit and its components are safely cold.
03
Disassemble accessible components
Removable grates, heat tents or flavour bars and trays come out and are kept in order so everything returns to its original position.
04
Steam and degrease
Steam, commercial degreaser, or both are used according to the grill's materials and condition.
05
Detail and reassemble
Accessible interior surfaces are cleaned by hand, exterior stainless is polished with the grain, and each component is returned to place.

In detail
What a professional grill cleaning covers
Where appropriate for the grill, we first use heat to bake off and loosen carbonised buildup. The grill is then shut down and allowed to cool completely before accessible components — grates, flavourizer bars or heat tents, burner covers and grease trays — are removed. We then use steam, commercial degreaser, or both according to the grill's materials and condition.
Stainless steel polishing is its own step. Grease and fingerprints come off first, then the exterior is polished with the grain. Surface rust is assessed separately, because some spots lift and some are pitting that is permanent.
It is as much a safety service as a cosmetic one. Accumulated grease in a firebox is the most common cause of flare-ups that damage a grill.
Materials & surfaces
What we work with

Honest expectations
Results and limitations
- Cleaner grates and accessible interior components

- A grill that looks cared for again
What cleaning cannot fix
- Pitting, permanent corrosion and heat discoloration in the steel cannot be reversed
- Existing damage stays damage — cleaning does not repair it

- Anyone hosting soon who wants the grill guest-ready
Pricing
What it costs
Quoted based on your space, condition, and scope.
What moves the price
- Grill size and number of burners
- How long since the last deep clean
- Whether stainless polishing covers a cart or a full island front
- Light recurring care versus a full deep clean
San Diego conditions
Why San Diego outdoor kitchens need more attention
Year-round grilling weather means our clients cook outdoors far more than the national average, and most San Diego outdoor kitchens are uncovered or only partly covered. Grease, salt air, and stainless steel are a poor combination.
What we see locally
- Salt air causes tea staining — those small rust-colored freckles on stainless doors — particularly on 304 grade near the coast
- Grease that sits in a firebox through a humid marine morning is much harder to remove than fresh residue
- Uncovered kitchens collect dust and pollen in drawer tracks and burner ports year-round
- Rodents and insects are attracted to unclean grease trays, especially on canyon-backing lots
Maintenance
Grill upkeep between professional cleans
Ten minutes of habit prevents most of the buildup we get called about.
Burn off, then brush
Run the grill hot for ten minutes after cooking, then brush the grates while they are still warm.
Empty the grease tray monthly
It is the single most neglected component and the one that causes flare-ups and pests.
Wipe stainless with the grain
Circular scrubbing leaves visible swirls in the finish that no polish will hide.
Cover it, but only when cool
A cover on a warm grill traps moisture against the steel and accelerates tea staining.
Deep clean twice a year
Once before summer entertaining and once after, or quarterly if you cook several times a week.
